Fitmums & Friends moves central office back to Cottingham

Posted 21st September 2023

We are excited to have moved our central office back to Cottingham, with generous support from local organisations. From our new premises, our small central team will support Fitmums & Friends’ ongoing work to help people across Yorkshire become more active, healthier and happier.

In September 2023, Fitmums & Friends relocated its central office to Cottingham, thanks to incredibly generous support from local organisations. Now based within Cottingham Civic Hall, staff at the new office support the work of the charity’s community clubs and activities across Yorkshire. Our local clubs offer a range of running, walking, cycling, buggy and junior athletics sessions to help people become more active and feel more connected. Sessions are fun and friendly, and suitable for all. Volunteer leaders can support complete beginners and those who already exercise regularly, so everyone is welcome: men and women (16+), and all abilities. We also run free programmes to support people through specific lifestyle and health challenges, such as the menopause and bereavement.

Fitmums & Friends is delighted to be back in the East Yorkshire village where the charity started nearly 15 years ago. Chief Officer and founder of Fitmums & Friends, Sam Barlow BEM explains: "The small central team of the charity now supports more than 1,000 participants and volunteers across Yorkshire, so having an office space is essential. And it feels especially lovely to be back in the home of the original Fitmums & Friends group! We are so incredibly grateful for the way in which local businesses rallied round to help us when we really needed support. Thank you to Cottingham Village Trust for offering us a new home and to Sewell Group, Sewell Construction and Sewell on the go for making us a beautiful new space."

Patrick Sewell of Sewell Group said: "We've been supporters of Fitmums & Friends for several years, with members able to use our Sewell on the go stores as safe havens if they get into difficulty whilst out exercising. When we heard that they were losing their premises, we knew we had to do what we could to help. We hope they enjoy their new home, and can continue providing a fantastic service to keep local people active, healthy and happy."
