What is a buggy session?
Buggy sessions are designed to provide a cardio –vascular workout for pregnant ladies and for parents with babe in tow but anyone is welcome - no buggy or child required. Perfect for parents who don’t have child care or simply to enjoy some active time together with your children and like-minded parents.
There are two types of Fitmums & Friends Buggy sessions:
These normally involve a 2 or 3 mile walk of varying paces to suit all; power walking for those who want or a more gentle pace for others. Some sessions also include toning activities to give an all-round workout and some involve some “walking speed work” with buggies for those wanting an extra workout. Buggy walks may be park based or involve routes on pavements/tracks.
Buggy Boot Camp
This is a sports-hall based session which offers a good workout including toning and resistance work.
Buggy sessions are relaxed and informal and take into account the needs of babes who need nappy changes, feeding, and attention! It is a great way to meet other people. You don’t need a child/buggy to take part – anyone who would just like a walking workout is welcome to attend.
Claire Lyon, Fitmums Buggy Session Co-ordinator says “Buggy sessions are a great opportunity to exercise with your baby. It offers a great workout and the babes benefit from fresh air and a happy mum, dad, or grandparent!”.
Please note these sessions are TERM TIME ONLY

What members say
One mum says “walking is fantastic post-natal exercise and Fitmums Buggy sessions are a great way to socialise and exercise at the same time, without needing childcare! The group is very welcoming and friendly and we usually have some new faces each week. Fitmums Buggy sessions have proven to be a real success and is a fantastic addition to the Fitmums and Friends training schedule. I really enjoy my walks with Fitmums and my son enjoys watching the world go by and babbling to the other babies. I would encourage anyone who is looking after a baby and enjoys exercise to join us – mums, dads, grandparents are all welcome”.
Another mum says “I love it because I don't need to get a babysitter and the other mums/dads are really friendly. You are out in the fresh air and it doesn't feel like exercise because you are socialising with the other mums and having fun whilst also burning calories. I recommend Fitmums Buggy sessions to anyone wanting to come and try it”.
